It was during 1960 that the city of Palm Bay was incorporated after two Miami brothers purchased some undeveloped land within the area. The very first industrial company to locate there was Radiation, Inc. (later on the Harris Corporation). From the 1970's to 1990's, Palm Bay quickly expanded. The Palm Bay's location close to the Atlantic Ocean and its accessibility to main cities within central and coastal Florida, such as the city of Miami and Orlando, have spurred the city's growth.
