Palm Bay is a city in the state of Florida, on the east central Atlantic coastline. It is located within the County of Brevard. Miami lies 290 km towards the south of Palm Bay. Palm Bay has a total land area of 165 km2. The population is just more than 100,000 individuals.

It was during 1960 that the city of Palm Bay was incorporated after two Miami brothers purchased some undeveloped land within the area. They planned a residential project for the place, and ultimately the development led to development of industry and population growth within the region. The very first industrial company to locate there was Radiation, Inc. (later on the Harris Corporation). From the 1970's to 1990's, Palm Bay quickly expanded. The Palm Bay's location close to the Atlantic Ocean and its accessibility to main cities within central and coastal Florida, such as the city of Miami and Orlando, have spurred the city's growth.

The Palm Bay regional economy is based mostly on high-technology and tourism. In addition, Palm Bay's employment sectors include healthcare, manufacturing, computer and electronic products, construction, professional, scientific and technical services and government. Practically 33 percent of the workforce are in office and sales jobs.

The county of Brevard is the home of several high-tech and aerospace companies, among them are Bamsi, United Space Alliance, Space Gateway Support, Boeing, NASA/Kennedy Space Center Contractors, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Rockwell-Collins, USBI and Lockheed Martin. Businesses in Palm Bay employ numerous college graduates as computer software systems engineers, computer software applications engineer, aerospace engineers, industrial engineers, electrical engineers, management analysts, mechanical engineers and computer programmers.

The largest employment providers in the region are Harris Corporation, Intersil, DRS Optronics, MC Assembly, Holmes Regional Medical Center, Walmart, Publix Supermarkets, Winn Dixie Supermarkets, Palm Bay Community Hospital and the City of Palm Bay.

The city of Palm Bay boast numerous areas for outdoor recreation, including The Florida Tech Botanical Garden, with its unique collection of palm trees, and Wildlife Turkey Creek Sanctuary, where rare and endangered plants and animals are found. Sebastian Inlet State Park is situated 20 minutes south of Palm Bay. Sport fishing is extremely popular there, both from charters and from private boats.
