Made during the year 1923, the Grand Central Airport has been the largest business for many years. For the Los Angeles are, it was the first official terminal and contributed the development of aviation within the US. Charles Lindbergh started the very first west to east transcontinental flight from Glendale Central Airport. Made from inspiration of Spanish style architectural elements and Art Deco themes, the main terminal building still stands and is an essential element of Glendale's history. Up until the year 1959, The Grand Central Business park used to be the Grand Central Air Terminal Building. During World War 2, the building was camouflaged to be able to protect it from enemy attacks.

The city has a "Special Collections" section in the Glendale Public Library, that has lots of original documents and records on Glendale history. In 1950, the Jewel City Cat Fanciers Club donated more than 20,000 volumes to the library, making it the largest collection of books about cats in the world. It is a special collection and will be kept permanently on view for people who are part of the club.
