Located on the north-eastern shore of San Pablo Bay is Vallejo, the largest city within Solano County. It was named after General Mariano Guadalupe and presently hosts a population of 116,760.
There are a lot of major centers offering employment in the area consisting of: Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco, Tri Valley area and Walnut Creek/Concord. Through the existing transportation system, these locations are effortlessly reachable.

One economic plan of Vallejo is to revive Mare Island, which would be done by the construction of new neighborhoods. There is lots of rich history as well as an abundance of national historic landmarks located here, none the least of which is the one of the nations oldest decommissioned shipyard and naval bases. Together with these, there is also a 19th century brick industrial warehouse and a couple of coal shed artist studios. A couple of other famous historic landmarks are the Officers mansions, Alden Park and Chapel Park (designated historic landscapes), and the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi. Finally, the Saint Peters Chapel, which was built in the year 1901, houses the biggest collection of stain-glass windows made by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
