Chandler is a city located in the County of Maricopa, Arizona. It is a major suburb of the Phoenix, Arizona, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Chandler is situated in the central and south part of Arizona. It is roughly a 30 minute drive southeast of Phoenix. On the north, it is bounded by Mesa, towards the north and west by Tempe, to the west by the city of Phoenix as well, towards the east by Gilbert and to the south by the Gila River Indian Community.
The population of the city has reached over 236,000 people, based on the 2010 Census. For many companies, Chandler serves as a satellite location for tech businesses like for example Orbital Science Corporation and Intel. Phoenix is home to 7 Fortune 1000 companies. The city of Scottsdale is another nearby area which is home to 3 more Fortune 1000 companies.

The very first veterinary surgeon within Arizona Territory was Dr. Alexander John Chandler. In 1891, he settled on a ranch situated south of Mesa and was studying irrigation engineering. A short time later in the year 1900, he had acquired 73km2 of land or 18,000 acres and started to draw up plans for a town site at the area that was then named Chandler Ranch. On the 17th of May, 1912, the official office of the town site opened. That same year, Chandler High School was also established. The region continued to thrive and by 1913, a town center had become established. The very first golf resort within the state of Arizona, the grand Hotel San Marcos was also featured here.
Intel is a computer chip manufacturer who has had an influential part in the growth of the city. They offer 4 places within the municipal area. The corridor has supported more than 2,900 investments and jobs totaling more than $3 billion ever since the year 2003. The Chandler Fashion Center is one of the shopping malls which opened during the year 2001. This 1,300,000-square-foot or 120,000m2 merger of stores has resulted in numerous laneway and courts developments. Three shopping malls in the area offer a huge attraction to such a large trade area.
Wal-Mart is expected to draw business within the southern portion of the Corridor. Expectations for the large consumer population to bring business from as far south as the Hunt Highway, leading a lot of the people and commercial retailers within the Greater Phoenix region to improve "the image and perception of the area." The Internet hosting company Cyrus One has announced their plans to build a $1 million square-foot data center. Plans are to construct the facility within the Continuum Business Park area within Chandler's Price Corridor.
