Moore (population 55,081) is a city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area and lies in Cleveland County. It is Oklahoma's 7th largest city.

Moore started out as a small, quiet community just outside Oklahoma City and is currently a dining, shopping and entertainment center. Just 20 minutes from downtown Oklahoma City, the City of Moore is within an easy drive of Tinker Air Force Base and Will Rogers World Airport. The Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center is nearby. The University of Oklahoma lies to the south of Moore.

The city of Moore has been hit by damaging tornadoes on several occasions in the past 12 years, during the year 1999, 2003 and the year 2010. In the deadly 1999 Oklahoma tornado, an F5 tornado on the Fujita scale left a 60-km long trail of destruction. It was among the strongest tornadoes in recorded history. 36 people within the Oklahoma City metropolitan area were killed during this catastrophic weather event.

The City of Moore was initially called "Verbeck" by the railroad company. In the land-run of 1889, people arrived on foot, and by wagon, train and horse. The town's name became Moore after Al Moore, who was either a brakeman or a conductor living at the camp, painted his last name on a board and nailed it on his boxcar so that the postal delivery will be sure to find him. The settlement became legally known as Moore when the town incorporated in the year 1893.

A vital reason for the city's growth has been its nearness to thousands of industries, businesses, and public and private schools. There are a lot of cultural and recreational facilities within the metro area. Moore has many inhabitants who work at government offices in Oklahoma's capital city to the north. Moore, an Oklahoma "Certified City", is considered desirable place to live.
