Children’s Cancer Network awards scholarships each year to childhood cancer survivors and immediate family members whose lives and college savings have been changed by childhood cancer. Scholarship funds may be used for books and tuition for applicants seeking post high school education opportunities including, but not limited to universities (Baccalaureate, Masters or Doctoral programs), community colleges and trade schools. If awarded, the scholarship will be made payable to the recipient’s school on behalf of the recipient. John W. Luttrell Scholarships may range in amount from approximately $500 to $2500 or more.
Established in 2005, the John W. Luttrell Scholarship received its initial funding from friends and family of John Luttrell who passed away that year from brain cancer. Donations were made in John’s name with the goal of assisting those whose lives had been impacted by childhood cancer seek higher education opportunities. The annual scholarships are a small reward for the strength and courage these families demonstrate in their daily lives.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility for Children’s Cancer Network’s John W. Luttrell Scholarship includes survivors of childhood cancer, their parents and siblings, as well as immediate family members of those who did not survive their cancer are encouraged to apply for these scholarships. These scholarships will be granted to students who have a tie to the state of Arizona. Specifically, applicants may be:
- Those who reside in AZ regardless of where they may choose to travel for their education.
- Those who may have received cancer treatment in Arizona or have had a child or sibling who has received cancer treatment in Arizona at some point regardless of where they live or where they may choose to go to school.
INSTRUCTIONS AND APPLICATION
The scholarship application is now available. Please download the appropriate application online and complete all sections. It is a fillable form in which you may directly type your answers into the document. Once complete, please save the document on your computer with your changes and email it to CCN as an attachment with your three letters of recommendation. Should your computer not allow you to type directly into the document, you may download the document, print your answers and scan the document back to CCN as an attachment in an email with you three letters of recommendation.
