Indigenous Education Partnership Program

Since 1995, the program assists Indigenous students in achieving their post-secondary goals through financial support and mentorship. The program provides full-tuition up to five years for a degree program and three years for a diploma program. To be considered for the program, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have First Nation, Inuit or Métis Status.
  • Reside within our Forest Management Agreement Area for at least one year prior to applying for the scholarship.
  • Be accepted or returning to full-time studies at a credited post-secondary institution.
  • Demonstrate a financial need, community involvement and a positive attitude.

Value: The successful applicant will receive full tuition for the duration of their academic pursuit. Tuition will be paid up to five years for degree programs and up to three years for diploma programs.

Eligibility: Indigenous peoples (First Nation, Inuit, and Métis) who have maintained residence within the Forest Management Agreement Area (FMA), or sphere of influence, for at least one year prior to applying for this scholarship.

Criteria: Applicants must: provide proof of status; proof of acceptance of full-time enrollment ina degree or diploma program in an accredited post-secondary institution; demonstrate financial need; demonstrate a positive attitude and outlook; demonstrate community involvement, as well as a 500-word essay that outlines their chosen field as well as their potential for 
success. A minimum of three positive references is also required.

Conditions: The scholarship recipient must maintain passing marks and satisfactory attendance. Students may request consideration for a one-year leave of absence under special circumstances. In the event that a leave of absence is granted, financial support will cease and will only resume upon return to full-time studies.

Application Process: Applicants may apply to the Indigenous Education Partnership Program by completing the application form and submitting it to the mailing address or email provided.

Métis Nation of Alberta Region 1 Scholarship

Through our partnership with the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 1, we offer the Métis Region 1 Scholarship. Each year, we award one eligible student with $1,500 in support of their academic goals. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have Métis Status.
  • Be accepted or returning to full-time studies at an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Reside in Métis Nation of Alberta Region 1.

Value: The successful applicant will receive a $1,500 award to assist in their academic pursuit.

Eligibility: Métis Nation of Alberta Region 1 students who have been fully accepted into; or are returning to full-time studies at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Conditions: Confirmation of Métis Nation of Alberta Membership and proof of Region 1 residency.

Selection Process: The selection committee will be made up of Al-Pac and Region 1 representatives.
