BURSARY APPLICATION FORM - INSTRUCTIONS
To be considered for the bursary you must submit the following:
- Completed application form
- Current transcript
- Reference letter from a faculty member
- All information is requested by June 30.
Three Bursaries to be Issued per Year $2000/Award
- The applicant must be a full time Canadian student enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program in the field of Geomatics with a hydrographic and/or a marine cartographic component, or enrolled in an International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographers and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC) recognized Category A or B program.
- The bursary will be available to college and undergraduate students in a degree or diploma program which conforms to the basic subject topic. The applicants will be required to submit a transcript or copy of their most recent postsecondary marks at the time of application. The marks must indicate an academic average of 70% or higher.
- The bursary will be presented to applicants who can demonstrate a bona fide financial need, coupled with an above average academic performance as stated above.
- Applicants will be required to write a short paragraph explaining their financial need in a clear, concise manner. The importance of this aspect of the application is emphasized.
- Applicants must submit one letter of reference from an official of the university or college attended the previous year. This letter of reference must include the address and phone number of the official.
- Bursary applications are to be submitted to the Canadian Hydrographic Association (CHA) by June 30th to the email address in item 12 below.
- The value of the bursary is $2,000 each and only the successful applicants will be notified.
- Successful applicants will be issued a framed CHA Certificate, an engraved medallion with the CHA Crest and have their name mounted on a perpetual winners’ plaque. A picture of the plaque, duly inscribed, will be provided to the winner along with a $2,000 cheque sent by mid-August.
- A student may receive the bursary once only.
- Successful applicants are requested to provide a letter of appreciation which will be published on the CHA website.
- Applications will be made on the form supplied or preferable downloaded from the CHA website at www.hydrography.ca.
