The application deadline is March 1 of each year for both scholarships. All completed forms, letters, transcripts, and other required information must be received by the Scholarship Committee by March 1 for consideration for an award for the following scholastic year.
ASEV Traditional Scholarship
All of the following requirements must be met:
- Applicants must be current ASEV Student Members prior to applying for a scholarship.
- Undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled in or accepted into a full-time accredited four-year college or university in North America (Canada, Mexico, or USA) in a degree program such as for a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral (thesis or professional). The applicant must also reside in North America (Canada, Mexico, or USA) during the applicable academic year. Undergraduate applicants should have a minimum of junior status for the upcoming academic year (45 semester units/60 quarter units). Applicant is required to submit their acceptance letter from the academic institution.
- Undergraduate students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Graduate students must have a minimum overall grade point average of 3.2. GPA’s calculated through the most recently completed semester or quarter will be used. Current quarter or semester pending grades are not applicable. Undergraduate and graduate student applicants will be rated on a separate basis.
- Applicants must be accepted and/or enrolled in a major, or in a graduate group, emphasizing enology or viticulture, or in a curriculum emphasizing a science basic to the wine and grape industry.
ASEV Presidents’ Award for Scholarship in Enology or Viticulture
All of the following requirements must be met:
- Applicants must be current ASEV Student Members prior to applying for a scholarship.
- Undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled in or accepted into a full-time accredited four-year college or university in a degree program such as for a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral (thesis or professional). Applicant is required to submit their acceptance letter from the academic institution.
- Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.6. Current quarter or semester pending grades are not applicable.
- Applicants must be accepted and/or enrolled in a major, or in a graduate group, emphasizing enology or viticulture, or in a curriculum emphasizing a science basic to the wine and grape industry.
- Applicants that have previously received the ASEV President’s Award are not eligible.
Awards
A formal announcement of the ASEV scholarship recipients is made at the American Society for Enology and Viticulture’s National Conference held each June.
Students who are awarded a scholarship will receive quarter or semester stipends. They must submit verification of registration and fees paid for the upcoming quarter or semester to the ASEV office prior to receipt of any funds each quarter or semester. Enrollment must be in the major or accepted area in the college or university stated in the application. The scholarship award is based on enrollment per quarter or semester.
