US Scholarship (Graduate)
Scholarships are awarded to graduate students of Armenian descent who clearly demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time graduate degree programs (Master’s, Doctoral, Professional) at highly selective colleges and universities in the United States and have achieved a GPA of 3.5 and above, as measured by the American grading system. Individual grants averaging $5,000 USD are awarded annually and are available for a maximum of three (3) years of graduate study. Applicants must submit proof of their financial need in the form of an official school financial aid package
International Scholarship (Undergraduate/Graduate)
AGBU offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent (excluding citizens of Armenia studying in Armenia), pursuing study at highly selective colleges and universities outside of the United States. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree programs with a GPA of 3.2 and above, as measured by the American grading system scale. Grants of up to $2,000 USD (up to £2,500 GBP in the UK; €2,000 EUR in France) are awarded annually and are available for a maximum of three (3) years of college/university education expenses.
Students from outside the US who are pursuing graduate study in the US should apply for an AGBU US Scholarship. Similarly, students from outside the US who are pursuing study in the performing arts or religious studies, should apply for an AGBU Performing Arts Scholarship, or AGBU Religious Studies Scholarship, respectively.
Helen C. Evans Scholarship for Armenian Art and Culture (Graduate)
The AGBU Helen C. Evans Scholarship is intended to honor Helen C. Evans, the Mary and Michael Jaharis Curator of Byzantine Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was established to recognize exceptional students from around the world pursuing studies in the areas of Armenian art, art history, architecture, and/or early Christianity. Helen C. Evans Scholars are to demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing world-leading research, teaching, dissemination of future work that will help develop the areas of Armenian art, art history, architecture, and/or early Christianity, and related fields. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time graduate degree programs and this scholarship is available for a maximum of three (3) years toward college/university education expenses. This scholarship is open to students of both Armenian and non-Armenian descent.

Performing Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate/Graduate)
Scholarships are awarded annually to full-time undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent worldwide who are pursuing studies in the field of performing arts and enrolled in highly selective colleges and universities. Citizens of Armenia studying in Armenia are not eligible for this scholarship. However, non- Armenian citizens studying in Armenia are eligible. Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree programs and have achieved a GPA of 3.2 and above. Applicants must submit examples of their artistic experience in the form of audio/visual recordings for evaluation. Individual grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000 USD. They are awarded to students demonstrating exceptional artistic accomplishment and are available for a maximum of three (3) years.
AGBU offers scholarships to graduate students of Armenian descent worldwide (excluding citizens of Armenia studying in Armenia) who are pursuing religious studies (theology, youth ministry). Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree programs at seminaries or highly selective colleges/universities worldwide with a GPA of 3.0 and above as measured by the American grading system scale. Grants of up to $5,000 USD are awarded annually, and are available for a maximum of three (3) years toward seminary/college/university education expenses.
General Eligibility Criteria

Application deadlines will be strictly enforced. Applications submitted past the designated dates above will not be accepted or considered. Applications are considered submitted when completed in full. No exceptions will be made.
In addition, please note the following:
- You may only apply to one scholarship category per academic year.
- Applicants for travel grants, study abroad, non-degree program courses, research studies or other short-term educational or professional experience are not eligible for AGBU Scholarships.
- We encourage applicants to secure a major portion of tuition from secondary sources to ensure their possibility of enrollment at their desired institution.
Past Recipients / Renewals
Students who have received a scholarship from AGBU in the past and meet the eligibility requirements specific to the scholarship category of interest may apply for renewal for a total of three times. The system will distinguish between new and renewal applicants based on the answers provided to the questions in the Eligibility section of the application. Please note, for students who have received financial assistance from AGBU in the past (either in the form of a grant or a loan), this history is taken into consideration and counted toward the three (3) time award limit when determining eligibility for renewal.
Scholarships for Study in Armenia
AGBU provides financial support directly to institutions in Armenia, primarily to the American University of Armenia (AUA) and Université Française en Arménie (UFAR). Thus, AGBU does not offer individual scholarships to Armenian citizens studying in Armenia.
