The Luso-American Education Foundation (LAEF) is dedicated to helping students to succeed in the educational arena by awarding scholarships to deserving students.

The Luso-American Education Foundation offers numerous Youth Scholarships. All applicants must be….

  1. Currently a high school graduating senior.
  2. Applying to enroll in a Junior or 4-year college or university, or a Trade or Business School
  3. Official Resident of the United States
  4. Be of Portuguese ancestry (must provide proof upon request) or taking Portuguese language classes in high school

An applicant may apply for multiple scholarships but will only be awarded one.

  • (C-1) General Youth Scholarship: Amount of Scholarship varies
    • $4,000 Scholarship is distributed in 4 yearly installments of $1,000 each year
    • $2,000 Scholarship is distributed in 2 yearly installments of $1,000 each year
    • $1,000 Scholarship is disbursed (in total) in 1st year

Applicants must also meet ONE the following Requirements:

  1. Be of Portuguese ancestry with a minimum GPA of 3.5;
  2. Currently taking Portuguese language classes at high school level with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or
  3. Having attended the Luso-American Education Foundation Cultural Youth Summer Camp for a minimum of 2 years, with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  •  (C-2) Nicole Marie Goulart Memorial Scholarship: a non-renewal scholarship. Amount of scholarship will vary. Applicant must not be a direct descendant of the donor

Applicants must also meet the following Requirements:

  1. Be of Portuguese ancestry with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  2. Applicant is planning on majoring in ONE of the following fields:
    • Medical;
    • Educational;
    • Business or
    • Law

The Scholarship application and the following items must be postmarked or received in our office by MARCH 1st for the application to qualify and be reviewed by the scholarship committee. Your application will not be considered if these items are not received.
