Wellroot is accepting applications for the Wellroot Family Services Scholarship Program. The program supports youth who have experienced foster care, homelessness, and other significant challenges, and it recognizes students for their community service, academic performance, and demonstrated leadership in school. Awards ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 will be granted for the 2024-2025 academic year.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Eligibility
Award information:
- Awards ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 will be granted. Award amounts will vary based on the designated funds as described below.
- Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
- Awards are limited to one award per student per year.
- Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
- academic record
- demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
- work experience
- statement of educational and career goals and objectives
- unusual personal or family circumstances
- an online recommendation
Financial need will not be considered.
In addition to the above criteria, some of the Funds within this program have other eligibility criteria that will be considered when selecting recipients.

- Lee Corvette Fund Awards: Four (4) awards of $4,000 each
- Patterson Higher Education Awards: Five (5) awards of $4,000
- Emily Anne Burgess Estate Fund Award: Four (4) award of $4,000
- Moore Memorial Awards: Twelve (12) awards of $4,000
- RC Carlton Education Awards: Two (2) awards of $2,000
- Reuel & Naomi S Burgess Awards: Five (5) awards of $3,000
- Holt Fund Awards: The number of awards will vary, not to exceed $28,000
- N S Elizer Four (4) awards of $4,000 will be granted.
- Jack & Wanda Reaves Education Award: Five (5) awards of $2,200
- WL Monroe Sr Trust Awards: Two (2) awards of $2,000
