Award Deadline: Aug 15, 2025

Koffel, Brininger, and Nesbitt Criminal & DUI Law Attorneys is excited to announce the annual Moral Responsibility and the Application of Law Scholarship, available to both undergraduate and graduate students. This scholarship promises $2,500 in financial support to a student whose critical thinking skills and personal dedication put them a step ahead of the rest.

Koffel, Brininger, and Nesbitt invites students from all areas of study, all across the United States, to submit scholarship video essays between 1 and 3 minutes long for the firm’s consideration. Students have until August 15, 2025, to bring together their application materials.

The firm cannot answer emails, phone calls, or other forms of communication with questions about the scholarship at this time.

Eligibility Requirements

Undergraduate and graduate students interested in applying for the Moral Responsibility and the Application of Law Scholarship must:

  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Enroll in or be accepted at an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the United States
  • Agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions
  • Complete the application before the submission deadline passes

How to Apply

Students who want the scholarship selection committee to consider their applications must:

  • Meet the scholarship’s aforementioned eligibility criteria
  • Complete the application form on this page
  • Upload a copy of their unofficial transcripts
  • Add a link to their unlisted, YouTube-published video essays
  • Upload proof of academic enrollment, such as a letter of acceptance or student ID

Scholarship Video Topic

The team with Koffel, Brininger, and Nesbitt wants today’s college students to think critically about the various applications of the law in criminal court. With that in mind, the firm wants students applying for the Moral Responsibility and the Application of Law Scholarship to answer the following question:

What is an attorney’s moral responsibility in the application of the law?

Students can include societal or personal examples to elaborate on their points. The videos students submit must be somewhere between 1 and 3 minutes in length. Students should edit their videos before publishing them as unlisted YouTube videos. Students can then submit links to those unlisted videos when filling out their applications.

Information About Video Editing and AI Use

Students can enhance their videos using media editing tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, but Koffel, Brininger, and Nesbitt does not require applicants to do so. The scholarship committee will focus on the content of the applicant’s video and other materials.

While students can use AI to generate B-roll footage, the text and story in their videos must be original. Using AI platforms to generate the video’s script, create false voices, or include fake actors could result in automatic disqualification. The video’s core footage should also not be AI-generated.

Scholarship Deadline

Students have until August 15, 2025, to submit their applications to Koffel, Brininger, and Nesbitt. The firm will not accept applications submitted after this date or applications submitted without all of their essential materials.

Selection & Award Notification Process

The firm will not award scholarships to students who miss this deadline or who fail to submit all necessary materials along with their applications.

After the submission period closes, the scholarship selection committee reserves up to three months to choose a winner. This period might be extended depending on the number of applications received. Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision.

The firm cannot answer questions about the scholarship or the winner selection process submitted through any medium. Likewise, the firm will only communicate with its scholarship recipient. Students and their families can keep an eye on the firm’s website for updates about a winner.

Upon selecting a winner, the scholarship selection committee will work with the student and their university of choice to apply the scholarship funds to the winner’s education.
