Rubber Division, ACS offers two $5,000 Undergraduate Scholarships to students entering their junior or senior year for the fall-spring academic year. In addition, the former Connecticut Rubber Group offers a $5,000 Russell Mazzeo Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship. This award serves to honor the dedication to education and Rubber Division, ACS that Russ showed during his nearly 50 years in the rubber industry. Applicants for these scholarships may have a major area study in chemistry, physics, chemical or mechanical engineering, polymer science or any other technical discipline relevant to the rubber industry. Each winner receives up to $5,000 to put towards educational tuition expenses.
Notices
- Rubber Division, ACS requires one (1) regular mail package containing the scholarship application and two nominations letters listed in Section 2 online be mailed and postmarked no later than March 1 of ear year. The official transcripts must be mailed by the granting university or college to the address specified below and received by March 1st.
- These scholarships will be award to incoming juniors and seniors with a “B” or better academic average for all of their undergraduate work and a minimum of three (3) semesters or six (6) terms completed.
- Previous applicants, including previous winners, may reapply in their senior year for a second and final year of possible scholarship support.
- Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in a fully accredited university in a country where Rubber Division, ACS has a resident subdivision or partner organization - currently USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil or India.
- Applicants may have an major area of study in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science or any other technical discipline of relevance to the rubber industry.
- The scholarship winners will have a serious interest in full-time professional employment in the rubber industry upon graduation and shall show promise of a productive future as a technically trained professional.
- These scholarships, with an annual stipend of five thousand dollars ($5,000) are applied to one academic year (fall and spring semester) and are to be used toward total tuition expenses. Checks are mailed directly to the college or university.
- No scholarship winner will be an immediate family member of anyone involved in the administration of the scholarship program and the selection of its winners.
- Scholarship winners will be given the prestigious designation of "Rubber Division, ACS Scholar."
