The Mary Edith Jones Scholarship
This is a one-time, $500 scholarship awarded to a high school graduating senior who plans to pursue higher education at any accredited institute of higher learning. This includes vocation and trade schools as well as two-year and four-year colleges and universities. The applicant or his/her parents and/or guardians must be current members of a local PTA unit in good standing with Alabama PTA.
The deadline is March 1, 2025.
Alabama PTA awards one Mary Edith Jones General Scholarship per year.
ELIZABETH BALDWIN HILL Scholarship

The Elizabeth Baldwin Hill Scholarship is awarded annually to a college junior pursuing teacher certification in a publicly supported Alabama college or university.
Award: A one-time scholarship of $500, paid to the recipient's college or university after March 1st. The winner will be notified by mail and invited to attend the Alabama PTA Awards Banquet.
YVONNE BALLENTINE Memorial Reflections Scholarship

The Ballentine Memorial scholarship is awarded annually to high school seniors who participate in the Reflections program.

Criteria
The scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who participated in the Reflections program.
If the PTA at your school does not sponsor the Reflections program, you can still ask your PTA president to accept a Reflections entry from you and If your PTA is in a council, submit it to the council level of judging, or If your PTA is not in a council, submit it directly to the state level of judging.
The application and supporting documents must be submitted to Alabama PTA, 3066 Zelda Rd., PMB 252, Montgomery AL 36106 postmarked by March 1, 2025.
Scholarship Legacy
Yvonne Ballentine was a dedicated staff member of Alabama PTA for 18 years. She was especially enthusiastic about the National PTA Reflections Cultural Arts Program and this scholarship was created in her memory.
Sally Mitchell Reading Scholarship
Deadline: March 1
Mrs. Mitchell served as the Alabama PTA State President from 1979-1981 and has remained an active member of the Alabama PTA Board of Directors since her presidency. Her dedication to this organization is incredible. There is nothing she won’t take on in her efforts to benefit the children of the State of Alabama and this association. She serves as a mentor to new board members and provides encouragement and a great reference point for State Presidents who have followed in her footsteps. She has even worked in our State Office answering phones and assisting local units when needed during staff vacancies. She is always an attendee at Board meetings, the Alabama PTA State Conventions and still travels when health and schedule permits to National PTA Conferences.
Local unit PTAs in good standing may submit an application for a $500 Scholarship Award for their school library or a classroom teacher for reading materials. The required narrative should consist of no less than 250 words or more than 300 words. Alabama PTA awards one Sally Mitchell Reading Scholarship annually.
