Better Business Bureau Foundation of Delaware is proud to announce the Student Ethics Essay Scholarship program. This program recognizes college-bound Seniors who personify high ethics as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity and academic history. Recipients of this scholarship will receive $2,500 to an accredited college or university.
Guidelines
Applications and essays will be accepted only from high school students who are seniors in the current school year. The applicant must have a desire to continue his/her education at an accredited college or university. The recipient of the Scholarship will be honored at an awards ceremony in the Spring and the funds will be distributed directly to the school of higher education upon verification of student’s enrollment.
Selection Process
- Applications and essays will be accepted only from high school students who will be seniors in the 2023-2024 school year.
- Deadline to apply: January 17, 2024 by 3pm EST
- The applicant must have a desire to continue his/her education at an accredited college or university.
- The recipients of the Scholarships will be honored at the annual awards ceremony and the funds will be distributed directly to the school of higher education upon verification of student’s enrollment.
- All Applicants must use bbb.org to identify a company that is BBB Accredited in their local town. This ensures that applicants have knowledge of the BBB website. Applicants simply need to state the company name on the application form. A search of bbb.org will help you find an Accredited Business.
- This scholarship is open to students residing in the State of Delaware.
- This is NOT a needs based scholarship
- Two letters of recommendation are required.
- Essays will be judged by an independent panel selected by the BBB from business and community leaders. Judging will be done using a “blind” format, meaning that your personally identifiable information will be removed to ensure and respect your privacy and to maintain judging objectivity.
- A copy of your most recent high school transcript is required either with application or forwarded directly by the school.
- Family of BBB staff and Board Members are not eligible to apply.
- Please retain a copy of your completed entry.
- All submitted entries become the property of Better Business Bureau (BBB) and cannot be returned.
- In compliance with BBB privacy policy, the Delaware BBB will use any personal information you provide only for the purpose for which it was submitted.
Entries for BBB Student Ethics Award will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. Judges will select the scholarship recipients based on their leadership, contributions to their communities and schools, personal integrity, academic accomplishments, and written essay. Applicants may be required to participate in an interview. Decisions of the judges are final.
