To provide scholarship support to graduating high school seniors in Monroe County pursuing a degree in architecture, construction, construction management, or a related field, or a program leading to teacher certification in a STEM field or pursuing a trades program or degree.

Number and Size of Awards
One award of $4,000 to a student pursuing a two- or four-year professional degree; paid as $1,000 per year for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study. Additionally, one non-renewable award of $1,000 for students pursuing a trades degree or program and paid in one lump sum. Award paid in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.
Allowed Use of Award
Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.
Eligibility Criteria
For graduating high school seniors in Monroe County who:
- Are pursuing architecture, construction, construction management, trades, or a field of education that would lead to supporting the growth of these fields (e.g., math, science, technology, etc.);
- Plan to attend a two-year or four-year college or university or vocational/technical school;
- Have a minimum 2.0 GPA;
- Have financial need; and
- Intend to work in Monroe County following graduation from college or vocational/technical school.
Preference may be given to underrepresented students.

Committee/Selection Process
The selection process is coordinated through the Nautilus Scholarship selection committee, which is comprised of representatives from the architecture, construction, and education fields. The committee reviews applications, selects the recipient(s), and informs the Community Foundation of its decisions.
Award Announcement and Payment
The Community Foundation emails an award notification with instructions for claiming the award to the recipient in April. Payment is mailed to the school for the recipient’s account in two equal installments for the Fall and Spring semesters.
To release the initial scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill, verifying enrollment in the Fall semester to the Community Foundation’s online Consolidated Scholarship Application between July 1 and August 15.
To release subsequent semester payments, upload the requested and required information including your un/official transcript to the Community Foundation’s Scholarship Portal between July 1 and August 15 verifying continued enrollment.
