The NSGSC and Scholarship Committee is offering up to 7 scholarships of $500 each. Active 2023-24 NSGSC U18 & Women's players are eligible to apply for those listed below. Candidates may apply for more than one scholarship. Depending on applicants, more than one scholarship may be awarded in each category.
Applications must be completed using the form links BEFORE Friday, March 8th 2024.
Our independent Scholarship Committee is made up of active volunteers from post-secondary and sports organizations. The Committee will be making their selections and award recipients will be notified by March 31st, 2024. Scholarships will be presented at the U18 Graduation Celebration in April.
#1 NSGSC YOUTH: LEADERSHIP AND ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIP
NSGSC recognizes the players who have made a positive impact on their club or school teams and demonstrated leadership qualities and a commitment to improve their team experience, above and beyond expectation, while they are in our Club.
Recipients of this scholarship should meet the following criteria:
- Player who is in U18 and will be graduating from our youth program this year.
- Player who will be enrolled in full-time or part-time program of study at a recognized post-secondary institution/trades school/certificate program in the upcoming academic year.
- Player who demonstrates leadership qualities as a member of her team and/or elsewhere in her school, work, volunteer or extracurricular activities.
#2 RENEGADES: EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Than you to the 2005 Renegades who made a 3-year endowment to our club and will be offering a scholarship of $500 to one of the graduating 2006 Metro Renegades players. This is the second year of this 3-year scholarship. This scholarship will be given to a player who demonstrates excellence both on and off the field, and has demonstrated a commitment to the game for fun, friendships and fitness.
Recipients of this Scholarship should meet the following criteria:
- Player who is in U18 and will be graduating from our youth program this year and plays on a Renegades "Metro" team.
- Player who will be enrolled in full-time or part-time program of study at a recognized post-secondary institution/trades school/certificate program in the upcoming academic year.
- Player who is committed to sport and other activities in their life: school, community, friends, etc.
#3 NSGSC YOUTH: STAY IN THE GAME - WOMEN IN SPORT SCHOLARSHIP
NSGSC would like to support girls and women in the pursuits of their athletic and educational goals related to health and sport. NSGSC acknowledges the importance of seeing more female leaders in Sport and Health related fields and would like to assist them in reaching their career goals.
Recipients of this Scholarship should meet the following criteria:
- Player who is in U18 and will be graduating from our youth program this year.
- Player who will be enrolled in full-time or part-time post-secondary education in sport/health-related fields such as Kinesiology/Health Science, Sport Management, Sport Conditioning, Physical & Health Education (PHE), Sport Psychology, Sport Science, Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapy, Medicine/Nursing, etc.
#4 DEB BRAMLEY - COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS SCHOLARSHIP
The Deb Bramely scholarship will recognize a player who is highly involved in making a positive impact on our community. Players who receive this award have shown remarkable community service and volunteer hours with a passion to give back to the community and their peers.
Recipients of this scholarship should meet the following criteria:
- Player who is in U18 and will be graduating from our youth program this year.
- Player who will be enrolled in full-time or part-time program of study at a recognized post-secondary institution/trades school/certificate program in the upcoming academic year.
- Player who demonstrates shows a strong drive and dedication towards community service and giving back.
#5 NSGSC WOMEN'S PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP
Many of our Women's Program players are in post-secondary programs and find it difficult to pay for both their player fees and tuition. The winner of this scholarship will meet the following criteria:
- Is a member of our Women's Program OR is a recent graduate of the NSGSC youth program (within 2 years) and plays varsity soccer.
- Is enrolled full-time or part-time at a recognized post-secondary institution/trade school/ certificate program
- Maintains a 3.0 or above GPA (or equivalent)
- Demonstrates leadership qualities as a member of her soccer team or post-secondary institution/ trade/school/certificate program.
