At David I. Fuchs, Injury & Accident Lawyer, P.A., we handle cases with a variety of personal injuries, but there is one that hits close to home for David I. Fuchs. His mother had struggled with end-stage glaucoma, which has left her with blindness. Seeing its effects on someone you care about is nothing less than frustrating. That is why we are unveiling our Seeing Past the Blindness Scholarship to hear others’ points of view on how we should be handling the care of others with vision disabilities.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, around 12 million people ages 40 and above suffer from vision impairment in the United States. Many of them have conditions that will worsen with age. Grasping that you may be losing one of your key senses can be difficult. Many individuals can only ensure they have the right resources and training to prepare themselves for their new reality.
But one major hurdle is understanding how to travel through public spaces without sight.
Please share ideas on how your community could help create resources or structures to enable blind individuals. What resources would you like to introduce, remove, or improve to help those with limited vision and blindness?
