Providing academic scholarships is a central mission of the SWR Foundation. The SWR Foundation is open to any student of an accredited college, university, community college or trade school.  All students are welcome to apply. SWR Institute understands that it needs a strong, educated workforce and looks to SWR Foundation scholarship recipients to help fill this need.  student applicants must show that their degree or study would be directly relevant to the sealant, waterproofing or restoration industry.

Scholarship

The SWR Foundation Board of Directors will determine the number and dollar amount of scholarships awarded.  The maximum scholarship amount that can be awarded for a student over the life of academic life is $5,000. Most scholarships are for $1,000 or $2,000 per recipient.  The purpose of these scholarships will be to assist and encourage qualified students to further or continue their interest in the construction industry, specifically the sealant, waterproofing, and restoration industry, as a pending or continued career.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Any student enrolled full-time in an accredited trade school, 2-year community college or a college or university is eligible to apply.  

Notification

All applicants will be notified, in writing, as to the determination of scholarship recipients.  After the recipient’s registration has been confirmed at the institution indicated on the application, a check will then be issued in the name of student and mailed directly to the registrar’s or financial aid office.

Deadline Dates:  The application must arrive at SWR Foundation Headquarters at least ninety days prior to the date of the beginning of the Fall semester which the scholarship, if awarded, will be applied.

Applications are due April 30 of the current calendar year.   

Instructions for Submission, Questions & Information

Every item on the application form must be completed.  If you are unable to respond to an item, you must explain why in the appropriate space on the form.

All items listed below are required and must be sent to SWR Foundation Headquarters:

  • A typed and signed statement of your activities, interests, anticipated employment [if any], prospective field of study, and the career path you expect to follow. Statement should not exceed 500 words in length.
  • An outline of your proposed program of study indicating your intent to pursue an education in the field of construction, specifically in the sealants, waterproofing or restoration industry.
  • Official copies of high school or college transcripts. Students who have attended college full-time for two semesters or more are not required to submit high school transcripts.
  • A typed statement from an instructor knowledgeable of your desire to pursue a career in the construction industry [for high school students]. OR A letter of recommendation from the department head or dean of the college. [for college students].
  • Two typed letters of recommendation. These letters could come from an instructor, current or past employer.  It is preferred, but not required that one of these letters be submitted by someone in the sealant, waterproofing and restoration industry [ex. current or past employers, local consultants, professional architect, engineer, industry contractor, etc.].Documents can be emailed to info@swrionline.org
