To this end, HGMS is proud to offer three scholarships that will be awarded in 2022. The deserving students should be majoring in Earth Science and entering their third year of study at a university or transferring to a four-year curriculum from a two-year college. Successful candidates will receive awards of $2,500 applied to their tuition. These scholarships are funded annually by HGMS. Please help spread the announcement of these awards to any student who may benefit!
HGMS seeks to raise awareness of Earth Science and Lapidary Arts education in the Greater Houston area. To this end, HGMS is proud to offer one Scholarship at this time. The Scholarship may be awarded to a student majoring in an Earth Science or a Lapidary Arts curriculum. The applicant must have completed his or her sophomore year in a four-year college or university or be transferring into such college or university after successfully completing the course of study offered by a two-year Texas college.
The scholarship is awarded based upon merit. The HGMS Earth Science/Jewelry Arts Scholarship may be awarded to an individual student only a single time. This does not prevent an individual student from receiving both the HGMS Earth Science/Jewelry Arts Scholarship and the Paleontology Section Scholarship; however, both scholarships cannot be received in the same school year.

Student must be a Texas resident whose home is located in Harris County or in a county adjacent to it, OR who resided in Harris County or an adjacent county while attending a school or college also located in Harris County or an adjacent county but is now attending a college or university outside this boundary.
