The Italian Cultural Centre has established four Scholarships to be granted annually to four Grade 12 students residing in Metro Vancouver. One of the applicant’s parents must be of Italian heritage, and as well a member of the Italian Cultural Centre Society. The applicants will plan to attend a post-secondary institution where they must also be prepared to pursue Italian-language course work.
Each scholarship is worth $500.00.
The completed application form, a letter of reference, and a copy of the most recent report card must be submitted to Edda Onesti, ICC Italian School Administrator by May 31.
Prior to being awarded the scholarship money, the recipients must provide evidence of their enrolment in a post-secondary institution.
Italian Cultural Center Society (ICCS) Scholarships will be granted annually to four Grade 12 students residing in Metro Vancouver whose parents are of Italian heritage and members of the ICCS, and who intend to pursue Italian-language coursework at a post-secondary institution. The amount of each scholarship is $500. Consideration will be given to both male and female applicants.
Criteria for Scholarship
- The recipient of the scholarship must be a graduating Grade 12 student residing in Metro Vancouver whose parents are of Italian heritage and members of the ICCS. The applicant must intend to pursue Italian-language coursework at a postsecondary institution.
- The applicant must submit a completed ICCS application form.
- The applicant must submit one letter of reference from an adult who is not a relative.
- Evidence of academic achievement, leadership, volunteerism and good citizenship will be considered. Involvement in the ICCS will be an asset.
The completed application form, a letter of reference and a copy of the most recent report card must be received by the ICCS Italian School Director by May 31st. Prior to being awarded the scholarship money, the recipient must provide evidence that he or she is enrolled in a post-secondary institution.
Selection Process
- The selection committee will consist of three members of the ICCS Education Committee. Selection committee members will not be parents of Grade 12 students nor related to any of the applicants.
- The selection committee will review the applications and make a recommendation to the ICC Board of Directors as to the recipients of the awards prior to the end of May.
- When possible, the awards will be presented by a representative of the ICCS during Italian Week.
