The Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA), the Atlantic Affiliate of USA Hockey, is honored to offer a scholarship in memory of Daniel Triano to a student who plans to continue their education beyond high school and who is a member of USA Hockey Officiating in the AAHA.
A one thousand dollar ($1,000) non-renewable scholarship is available, to a high school senior who is registered with USA Hockey and is an active on ice official in the AAHA.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants must be high school seniors who are current USA Hockey registered officials (for a minimum of two seasons) without regard to race, sex, religion or financial need and regularly officiate games in the AAHA. Scholarships are non-renewable and selections made by the Scholarship Committee are final. Selection will be based on:
- School transcript which includes grades, GPA and class rank
- Two teacher letters of recommendation
- Officiating assignor or supervisor letter of recommendation
- Standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, etc.)
- The application must be accompanied by a typed essay of 500 words or less on “The Value of Officiating Hockey to My Personal Development.”
Announcements of the scholarship awardee will be made in May via the email address included in the application. Only the applicant selected to receive a scholarship will be notified.
The awardee must respond in writing to accept the scholarship by the date in the notification letter.
The recipient must provide a copy of the letter of acceptance to the school they plan to attend.
PROCEDURE
Students must complete the on-line application form and upload the following documents as attachments. Each document must be labeled with your First and Last Name and document type (i.e. Jim Smith-Transcript; Jim Smith-Essay).
Submitted applications that are not in compliance with these instructions will not be reviewed.

- Students must provide an officiating supervisor or assignor and two teachers with the link found on the Scholarship webpage to submit a letter of recommendation on their behalf.
The deadline for submission of applications and letters of recommendation is April 1st.
