The Jennifer Grimes Lindley Scholarship recognizes and awards young women residing in Monroe and Yates counties who intend to continue education beyond high school, preferably in the field of engineering.

Number and Size of Awards
Two awards of $1,000 each to both a Monroe County and a Yates County recipient, plus a four-year student membership to the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Award paid in one lump sum in the Fall.
Allowed Use of Award
Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.
Eligibility Criteria
For female graduating high school seniors whose permanent residence is in Monroe or Yates counties and who:
- Are pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering at any two- or four-year college;
- Have significant financial need; and
- Demonstrate community involvement.
Committee/Selection Process
The selection process is coordinated through the AAUW. The AAUW Educational Loan Fund of the Greater Rochester Area Branch reviews applications, selects the recipients, and informs the Community Foundation.
Award Announcement and Payment
The Community Foundation mails a letter to the recipient in the Summer with instructions for claiming the award, along with an invitation to a small reception at the American Association of University Women (AAUW) on East Avenue, where the scholarship will be presented. Family members are invited to attend.
To release the scholarship payment, upload the requested and required information including your class schedule and tuition bill verifying enrollment to the Community Foundation’s online Scholarship Acceptance and Renewal Form between July 1 and August 15.
NOTE: Award recipients are responsible for completing the Jennifer Grimes Lindley Expense Report Form detailing the purchases made using the scholarship funds. Upload the completed form no later than February 15.
